But I wasn't expecting THE HORN OF A UNICORN
Okay, it belonged to a narwhal...
Still pretty cool though.
That and the agate bowl were pretty interesting and mysterious. It was suppose to spell "Xristos" or something in it but I don't see it...
So now I truly know how wealthy the Habsburgs were.
I walked past Peterskirche at least 3 times before I finally found it.
It's just there!
It's hidden (as much as a church can hide) in a side road off the Graben ridiculously close to Stephansdom.
They frowned upon taking pictures inside so I had to be discrete with the ones I took of the whole body saints.
That reminds me of a strange dichotomy: How come it's totally okay to dig up the remains of holy saints of the church, dress them up, sometimes break off pieces, send them all over the country, and display them proudly, BUT it is apparently punishable by massacre for Jews to allegedly send pieces of bread in the mail to be tarnished?
Even though I know that no one at the time would have ever thought to compare the two, it's still a little weird how skewed that is...
Sooooooo many relics and reliquaries
The Crown of the Holy Roman Emperor
Some Order of the Golden Fleece stuff:
